The 7th meeting of the GCERF Governing Board took place from 5-6 December 2017 in Doha, hosted by the State of Qatar. This meeting was of critical importance for GCERF, focusing on the results of GCERF-funded activities on the ground, new funding decisions, the implementation of a new three-year strategy, and the approval of the 2018 budget. A highlight of the meeting was an interactive session with GCERF grantees from Bangladesh, Mali, and Nigeria, who made presentations to the Board; provided details on ongoing projects; and shared their views on the value and uniqueness of GCERF’s support at the very local level to strengthen community resilience to violent extremism.
Fifty representatives from 23 countries plus the European Union, civil society, foundations, and intergovernmental organisations gathered for an open and constructive exchange on key governance issues, strategic directions, funding proposals, resource mobilisation, and financial issues. Overall, this meeting was positive and productive, with a recommitment of support from the Board and with important decisions taken.
Below are selected Board documents and a list of decisions made at the meeting.
