Meet Samer: Advancing Community Resilience in Yemen

We are pleased to introduce Samer, GCERF’s National Adviser in Yemen. He is a seasoned humanitarian professional dedicated to promoting locally led initiatives that prevent and counter violent extremism.

Samer brings over eight years of experience in coordination, development, and community resilience across Yemen. Before joining GCERF in 2023, he held key roles with leading organisations including ACTED, IOM, INTERSOS, SHS, and the Danish Refugee Council. His work has directly benefited thousands of internally displaced persons and vulnerable communities through multi-sectoral programmes in camp management, shelter, WASH, protection, climate change, and peacebuilding. He has led diverse teams and collaborated with national and international stakeholders to design initiatives that promote youth engagement, conflict resolution, and disaster preparedness, fostering social cohesion in some of Yemen’s most fragile regions. Samer holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and is currently pursuing a master’s in business administration at the University of Aden.

At GCERF, Samer leads efforts to advance locally driven P/CVE initiatives. Operating from Aden, he acts as a bridge between GCERF and national stakeholders, including civil society, government institutions, and international partners. He oversees grant-making processes, conducts due diligence, supports proposal development, and coordinates capacity-building activities. Through regular field visits, monitoring, and contextual reporting, Samer ensures GCERF’s programming is responsive to Yemen’s dynamic environment, strengthens local capacities, and amplifies the impact of donor investments in building resilient communities.
