Meet Asma: Strengthening Financial Capacity for Sustainable Impact

We are pleased to introduce Asma, GCERF’s National Adviser focused on financial management and compliance in Iraq. She is committed to ensuring that GCERF-supported initiatives are financially robust, transparent, and effectively implemented.

At GCERF, Asma strengthens the financial responsibilities and capacities of grantees through three key areas: adopting best practices, ensuring compliant documentation, and coordinating effectively to achieve successful grant implementation. She brings over 15 years of experience with local organisations and international development, contributing to humanitarian, governance, and peacebuilding projects.

Earlier in her career, Asma worked across media and advertising, project management, and business development consulting within the Oil & Gas sector. Over the past seven years, she has specialised in finance, subawards, and compliance, supporting organisations to implement evidence-based, accountable programmes.

Reflecting on her journey, she says, “Compliance has played a significant role in both my professional and personal life, leading me to firmly believe in the importance of collecting all necessary resources to build strong evidence-based practices. Marketing and communication are the cornerstone of every career path, and that’s exactly where mine began.”

Through her work, Asma ensures that GCERF grantees have the financial tools, guidance, and support needed to implement sustainable, impactful programmes, helping communities achieve lasting change.
